The former World Champion, Nathalie Zeoli, now Nathalie Vogel after marrying Jan Vogel, has been out of Racketlon for more than two years after giving birth to a little baby boy. At the German Championships and Bundesliga last weekend (16th-18th of September), she made her long awaited comeback, and Nathalie got into her strides pretty fast.
On Friday she won the German Singles Championships after beating the 2016 German Open winner, Silke Altmann in the semifinal and world number 4, Amke Fischer in the final. Although not in the shape she was when winning the World Champs back in 2012 and 2013, Nathalie kept her form over the weekend and helped her team, Bad Säckingen to avoid relegation from the best league of the German Bundesliga after having lost all of their three matches in the first round played back in April. New German Champion on the men's side is Elmar Schaub after a win in the final over Jörg Kanonenberg.
Possibly the best Racketlon team event in the world
The German Bundesliga once again had an amazing atmosphere with 34 teams fighting for promotion, against relegation and for the title as German Team Champions. The final round took place in the small town of Castrop-Rauxel, close to Dortmund in a venue with 6 badminton courts, 10 squash courts and 6 indoor tennis courts.
German Champions in the 2016 season became Linden, who then defended their title from 2015. The team with former World Champion, Swedish Stefan Adamsson, the ever entertaining Alex Köpf and Tom Branke along with before mentioned, Amke Fischer, won all matches in the season and took home the trophy again.
