Racketlon club Bucharest enters Champions League

The teams for the 2nd FIR Champions League held together with Hungarian Open in Györ from 21 – 23 October are now forming, with already 9 from 7 countries Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic and newcomers from Romania, who got Racketlon infected in Sofia, on the entry list. Teniszcentrum Györ half way between the organising countries Hungary and Austria capitals Budapest and Vienna is the perfect venue for this International World Tour event. Conditions will be very good with three matches played parallel and four clay indoor bubble Tennis courts. A total of 100 players are expected and the tournament hotel is as good as full booked. Last reservations must be made until 7th October which is also the entry deadline for all draws and the players names for the club teams. Can Racketpoint Vienna defend title?

Defending champions are Racketpoint Vienna, the team around world number one players Christoph Krenn, Kerstin Peckl and Austrian champion Michael Dickert. Runners up in the 2010 competition with a total of 11 teams from 8 countries was the first Racketlon club worldwide Union Racketlon Klosterneuburg with captain Marcel Weigl, Joey Schubert, Simone Seitz and some top foreigners on the players list. Czech Crowne Prague will try to defend their brone medal, but the new teams from Switzerland Rapid Luzern and Romania with Racketlon club Bucharest are seeking for medals and not to forget the homecourt teams Matchpoint Budapest and Elektromos Györ. Teams from Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy and Poland are still expected.


Friday is Champions League day

On Friday 10 a.m. the club team competition starts and all matches are played including the semifinals. Only the big European Champions League final is set for Saturday evening. Hungarian Open singles draws start Friday 4 p.m. The system of play has changed compared to last year with a total of 5 encounters: 2 men singles, 1 woman single, 1 men double and 1 mixed double. A team thus most have a minimum of 5 men and 2 women with no restriction of foreigners and a minimum of 3 matches guaranteed for all teams. 3 main airports, cheap hotel

Until now only Hungarian national Championships, but never before has a FIR Racketlon World Tour event been held in Györ. The owner of Tenniszcentrum Györ has now made this possible by sponsoring the event. Traveling is comfortable, players flying in can choose no less than any of the three main airports Vienna, Bratislava or Budapest. The official three-star tournament hotel RABA City Center*** is not far away and the hotel prices with 49€ for a double room for both persons excellent. Rooms are preliminary booked until 7th October. The second hotel is four-star and a little more expensive Hotel Famulus**** The player’s dinner and player’s party will also be held at the hotel on Saturday night. Total prize money is 1500€ (650€ men elite, 350€ women elite, 500€ champions league).
