Refugees help set up Austrian Open

The setup for the Champions League and Austrian Open (2-4. September) is now ready thanks to the help of 8 young refugees from Afghanistan and Syria who were a big help to the organisation team around Christoph Krenn and Marcel Weigl. The youngsters will also practice with world number one Christine Seehofer after the work and will be back to cheer for the players especially in the finals during the weekend. The draws and the time schedules for 190 Austrian Open entries of 123 players from 17 countries in 18 draws are now all online on

Austrian chances thanks to baby break

In the Champions League with 8 teams from 7 countries the Austrian teams want revenge against the defending champions Holbaeck Racketlon club. The Danes are coming without the world number one Jesper Ratzer, who got married lately and is expecting a baby with his fiancé. Last years finalists Sportunion Racketpoint Vienna with Lukas Windischberger, Michi Dickert and Christine Seehofer thus hope to knock out the Danes in the semis. On two seeded are the Austrian vice-champions Union Racketlon Klosterneuburg around English Open winner Martina Meissl and Bettina Bugl, but especially the Swiss team with a tongue breaker name is hot for surprises. The draw and the line ups on

Top women and men on site

Except Jesper Ratzer all of the worlds top players are on site. In the men elite draw no less than 8 of the top 9 of the world ranking are in the draw, in the woman elite draw 5 of the top 7. While the absence of Jesper Ratzer makes the men draw more exciting, it will still end in a battle between top seeded Kasper Jonsson and the two Austrian followers Michi Dickert and Lukas Windischberger. In the women elite anything else than a final between the world number one Christine Seehofer and world champion Zuzana Kubanova would be a big surprise.
